2/24 report in
Muscles are sore. Not sure where I am on the weight. Will find out Sat. Sure wish the weather would get better. My wife gave me a 400 calorie or less per meal cookbook. Lots of info enclosed. Trying different things. Healthy food more expensive! Some are better than others. Trying to stay at 1200 calories a day. Hope all are well. See you Sat. at noon.

2/19 check-in
Trying to walk more and more everyday. Having some low blood sugar issues. Hard to balance dieting and keeping my sugar high enough where I don't feel sick. Working on it. No Insulin shots needed since I started. Reading labels, and doing what I am supposed to do....I think. Grandkids here over the weekend. Made them different meals. Man...did they smell great! Looked at the Alfredo sauce label, and it was 800 calories in one jar! I had a salad! Not fair!!!! Long road ahead of me, but determined to get there.....less than 300.

Weds. 16th check-in
Sure is nice walking in this weather. Saw Jamie Brenkus on channel 3 this morning. Charlene Sintic also. I have been against tattoos my entire life, but I got one today. I will see it everytime I reach for the fridge! It says "< 300 ". Wife thinks I am nuts, but it's a personal thing. Counting calories, carbs and walking. Bought some sugar-free gum for the sweet craving. I'm trying. Need to think about working out more. Guessing I have lost 10 pounds so far...but not sure where I am at. It's been 20 years since I weighed less than 300. Will try my best by July 1st. Hope all of us are doing well....and accomplishing their goals one day at a time.

Sunday night 2/13
Hope all are doing well. Sure was nice walking out in 45 degree weather, instead of 10 degrees. Moved my belt in a notch, for good this time. Blood sugar got too low yesterday again, but a shot of OJ did the trick. Stopped at my old bar hangout last night, and had 2 Diet-Pepsi's. (Hard to do). Have no idea where I am weight wise. Guess I'll find out in a few weeks...like we all will. 1st month, I am concentrating on diet. March I'll try and get in more exercise. Long road ahead. (Baseball) Spring training starting soon. A great sign!!!!

2/10 report
Too cold the last few days for outside walking. Lots of stress lately, with friends at hospitals, starting chemo, and other problems. In the "old days" I would reach for a beer, or order a pizza for comfort, but I am doing well. Long road to reach my goal. My wife and I are still counting calories, and starting on the bike. Still debating if I will join a gym. Money tight. Hope all are well, and coping with this "lifestyle change". Eating lean, and concentrating hard.

Monday 7th
Slipped a little last night for the Super Bowl, but not much. No beer/pizza or wings for me, but I did have some pulled pork and diet (home-made with fake sugar and low-cal mayo) cole slaw!! Proud of myself. Walked this afternoon. Need to do more, but is big as I am, need to lose some weight just to work out. I can walk about a mile, then my knee and back really start to bother me. Still under 1200 calories a day. Wife too. Have a lot of family support in this venture. Nice to hear. Caught a little flack from a few old friends from the paper Sunday, but in a way, it was nice to hear from them. Good luck to all. Just have to tell myself that this is a marathon, not a sprint. Under 300 by July 1st is the goal.

Friday Night 4th
Having some low blood sugar issues, but doing well. (No Insulin Shots All Week!) Need to exercise more than I am. Made lasagna tonight, using thin slices of zucchini instead of pasta. Not bad at all. Did a lot of walking today, and I caught myself pulling up my jeans many times! A good feeling! I have moved my belt in a notch since Xmas, and very soon will move it another notch I hope. Trying my best on what I eat, but lax on walking and lifting. Much work to do. Hope all of you guys are well, and happy.

2/3 Thursday afternoon
Weather getting better, will try and walk tonight. Not looking forward to the picture in this Sundays News-Herald. I hate seeing a picture of me the way I am. You don't realize how much overweight you are till you see the pic. For me anyway. Still doing well counting calories and carbs (Diabetes). My son has weight-lifting equipment, but it's in an un-heated garage, and I'll wait till it's 40 at the least. Hope everyone is well, and successful in their quest to get healthy.

Tues. the 1st
Doing well....for me. Walked some last night. Cold, but I did ok. Back and legs felt good. Blood sugar got too low this morning, so I had a bit of orange juice. Feel better now. Lot's of shoveling and snow-blowing this morning, so I count that as exercise! Counting carbs and calories. Hope all of us are doing well. Baby Steps!!! Let's all tie for 1st!
